DEVELOPING: Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Salt Lake City

Police said the driver fled from the scene, and it was initially considered a hit-and-run. They later gave an update that the driver returned to the scene and turned herself in.

The crash happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Temple and 800 South. First responders attempted life-saving efforts, including CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation, but SLC Police said the pedestrian appeared to have been in or near a crosswalk when the Volkswagen Passat hit them.
