Penn State draws Maryland next and the Terps are coming off a road loss to Northwestern.

on Saturday against heavy underdog Indiana at home. And it’s fair to wonder if some of PSU’s struggles were tied to the disappointment James Franklin’s program suffered a week earlier at Ohio State.PennLive’s Penn State text subscribers shared their thoughts following the Lions’ 33-24 victory over Indiana. Some comments been edited for clarity.

Look, we are not a playoff team. I take a more philosophical view of Saturday’s game. We were mentally destroyed after last week’s debacle against Ohio State. I would have liked for us to look better today but our confidence was shaken. These are kids playing the game. Weaker teams beat ranked teams every weekend and the bottom line, is we didn’t let it happen. I’ll leave it to you guys to dissect our clear deficiencies.

It’s funny, but I do think Allar’s late-game interception against Indiana could free him up to be more aggressive pushing the ball down the field. I’m sure he was thinking about that streak of not throwing interceptions. Those mistakes are going to happen. But he has the arm talent to make a lot of plays. His receivers need to be better on routes and making plays on 50-50 balls. One big positive: Drew Allar got a pick and suddenly stopped managing the football and started playing football.

The press box view of what’s going on with Penn State’s passing game does not exactly flatter the play of the Lions’ wideouts. Separation is a problem. Blocking on run plays is a problem. Working back to Allar when he is trying to extend a play is a problem.Hi Bob. The 69 and 90 yard big-play TDs from Indiana upset me on defense. The pressure on Allar all game worried me the most on offense. The big plays to end the game were the most positive.
