A study has found which states are the most impacted by dementia.
And a recent study has focused on the impact of the disease on each state.concerning dementia from the Centers for Disease Control as well as the Alzheimer’s Association to create a study which paints a fuller picture on those affected by the ailment across the United States.
After grading each state plus Washington D.C. on factors such as Alzheimer’s mortality rate and share of older adults with worsening cognition, Seniorly was able to determine the states “most burdened” by dementia: Louisiana , Alabama and Texas . “…the Lone Star State saw 41.9 deaths from Alzheimer’s per 100,000 population in 2021, and the number of people with dementia is expected to rise 22.5% between 2020 and 2025,” reads the study. “That’s despite the state having one of the youngest populations in the U.S.: Just 13.2% of Texans are 65 or older.”
