Uvalde city manager is asking people not to remove items or clean up public memorials

In the wake of the shooting on May 24, clusters of flower arrangements and other makeshift memorial items have appeared at Robb Elementary School, the city's town square and elsewhere. Many of the flowers have wilted and turned brown.

In a written statement released last week, DiPiazza asked people who visit the memorials to “refrain from taking items or cleaning up the public memorials dedicated to the victims” on city-owned property until Uvalde officials have met with the victims’ families.DePiazza said that officials are collecting dried greenery to store it so that it can be used in a future permanent memorial. Plans for a permanent memorial are still in the works.
