Foodbank warns of a 'terrifying and sad' surge in demand for assistance, as cost-of-living pressure take a toll.

Foodbank's mobile truck saw an 87 per cent increase in demand in Fremantle, while its Parmelia, Rockingham and South Lake sites are also experiencing huge demand and big queues.

"We get 200 trolleys through the checkout here on a Friday now we never used to get more than 80," she said. "Trying to feed a family of four on $10 a day is hard and that's why so many are being referred to us."Ms O'Hara said while WA's unemployment figures are low, there was a mismatch between the profile of job seekers and available positions."It gives help to people that need it and so many do need it," she said."It's really super… and all you've got to do is ask."Mr Cutt, the Mandurah volunteer, has a message for anyone struggling financially.
