Generally speaking, Anne is not the royal who makes the most headlines, quietly going about her royal duties without much scandal. But a new video from last night’s NATO reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace has the internet all abuzz. In it Donald and Melania Trump are greeted in a receiving line by the queen,, and Duchess Camilla as Anne stands to the side. The queen appears to gesture to her daughter—perhaps asking her to join them—and Anne simply shrugs and laughs.
There’s no sound in the video, so we can’t be sure of what exactly is going on between the royals and don’t know definitively if Anne was even meant to be one of the initial greeters at all.Of course, the internet had a lot of thoughts about this viral moment, wondering whether Anne was in trouble with her mom or whether she purposefully removed herself from the receiving line.
