The NSW Premier suggested the Queenslander leader remove the PCR test requirement for interstate travellers, suggesting it will ease congestion at testing sites and assist health staff provide answers faster for New South Wales residents.

Premier Dominic Perrottet said while he"respected" the stance from other state and territory leaders to protect their people it was time to allow travellers not feeling sick to use rapid antigen test results to ease the pressure on his health system.

"It just puts more pressure on the system. We don't have that in place in NSW and we don't believe it's appropriate it to be in place in other states." "The faster the queues, the more people will attend who are feeling unwell and in addition to that the faster we can get the tests back so we can keep our community safe," Mr Perrottet said.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk dismissed suggestions earlier this week that Queensland was to blame for the long testing queues in NSW. Mr Perrottet later doubled down on comments made earlier in the week for residents who were not experiencing symptoms to avoid taking a PCR if they were not travelling.
