Voters have fired a warning shot towards the Prime Minister and NSW Premier after losing the previously Liberal-held seat of Bega with big swings against the government at the by-elections on Super Saturday.

Labor managed to pull off a famous victory in Bega, which has previously been a safe Liberal seat, with the seat set to be taken by ALP candidate Dr Michael Holland.

Labor candidate Dr Michael Holland, pictured with Opposition leader Chris Minns, won the NSW seat of Bega in a historic win for the party. The Nationals managed to hold onto the seat of Monaro, formerly held by John Barilaro, but its lead margin was also eaten into. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the early results showed against Liberal showed the popularity of the"very successful" outgoing ministers.
