NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has revealed why it will cost $25 million to erect the Aboriginal flag on the Sydney Harbour Bridge as he admitted the proposal 'doesn’t seem to pass the pub test'.
The announcement over the weekend attracted widespread criticism with Mr Perrottet conceding the process had been “incredibly frustrating” when he was told of the surprising price tag and it would take years before it would happen.

Despite the criticism of the costing, some residents suggested the Aboriginal flag could simply replace the NSW one so taxpayers do not have to foot the large bill.“I don’t want the cost to get in the way of what is an important decision that we’ve made as a government and that is to fly the Aboriginal flag alongside the NSW flag and the Australian flag on the bridge,” he said.
“We don’t know where precisely they’re buying the steel from, we don’t know whether it’s coming from overseas or if it’s coming from here we have no idea what the material of the flag is going to be.
