PerryMason star Shea Whigham reveals season 2 takes place in 1933, one year after season 1, and is currently about halfway done filming.
Perry Mason season 2 will take place in 1933 and is reportedly halfway through filming. The crime series focuses on the series' titular character, portrayed by Matthew Rhys, a private investigator who is based on a character of the same name by author Erle Stanley Gardner. Perry Mason has previously been brought to the small screen numerous times, most notably in 1957 with the popular Raymond Burr-led series.
In a recent interview with Collider, Shea Whigham — who portrayed Perry Mason's partner Pete Strickland in season 1 — revealed that season 2 is already halfway through filming and will take place in the year 1933, one year after the previous season. At the conclusion of season 1, Strickland's partnership with Mason came to an end, but it appears that the character will return in the second season in a recurring role. Read what Whigham had to say below.
"We're in '33 in Perry Mason. Perry is in the soup again, and he's gotta try to figure his way out. Hopefully, Strickland can help him navigate that."Season 1 ended with the jury of the Emily Dodson trial becoming deadlocked, resulting in the judge declaring a mistrial. Emily takes in the new baby as her own Charlie and joins Birdy's new church in their travels. Mason moves into E.B. Jonathan's old office to start his new practice.
