Person shot in City Heights, gunman flees [Breaking]

A person was shot in a City Heights neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, and the gunman ran off, San Diego police said.

The shooting was reported shortly before 2:10 p.m. on Fairmount Avenue near Wightman Street, Officer John Buttle said. The area is near Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park and the City Heights/Weingart branch library. Buttle said that about 15 minute after the shooting, the victim showed up at a hospital in the Grantville neighborhood. He had been shot in the pelvis, and was taken to a different hospital. Buttle said the victim was male, but he did not know the victim’s age.Little information was known about the shooter, who Buttle said was reported to be in his 20s. The gunman was last seen running eastbound on Wightman, wearing a black shirt and jeans.
