Luca Kitson was born a healthy, happy little boy, his mum says. The now four-year-old was a “miracle” baby who was conceived naturally during a cycle alongside his fraternal twin, who was conceived via fertility treatment. But before his second birthday while the family were living in Kalgoorlie, mum Di Kitson noticed bruising on Luca’s right eyelid.
” Over 15 months, Luca underwent mammoth treatment including surgeries, chemotherapy, stem cell rescues, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. The family moved from Kalgoorlie to Perth and now live in Bibra Lake. “It was extremely difficult,” Ms Kitson said. “Ultimately, I don’t think I could have gone through this without the nurses on the ward. They just understood, they made us feel safe.
