A Perth dad is so keen to ensure his children’s school is kept free of “woke mind virus”’ and “divisive ideologies” he is chasing a spot on the school’s controlling board. In his pitch to other Churchlands Senior High School parents, Dean Healy said “gender ideology and other radical beliefs have no place in shaping young minds”. “I stand as a voice for parents who refuse to let the woke mind virus infiltrate our schools,” he said.

“I will fight for transparency, accountability and an unwavering focus on real and practical education.” The Education Department says public school boards exist to work with the school community to achieve the best outcomes for students, and hold approval and advisory responsibilities. This includes school governance, ensuring resources are used efficiently, and that “community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of students”.
