A Perth father has been run down in his driveway while trying to stop thieves from stealing his work ute. Three offenders entered Andy McCall’s home on Montpellier Mews in Port Kennedy about 5.50am on Wednesday and stole the keys to his work ute, a white Isuzu D-Max utility. As the offenders fled in the stolen vehicle, the 59-year-old “attempted to stop them and was run over”, police said. Neighbour Alan Atkinson told 7NEWS he had discovered McCall “face flat in the cul-de-sac”.
“I just wish I had woken up five to 10 minutes earlier... he’s a great guy, he’d do anything for you.” McCall suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment. He remains there in a serious but stable condition. On Wednesday afternoon the stolen ute was found abandoned by a member of the public on a bush track off Chalk Hill Road in Medina. The three alleged offenders are still on the run. Anyone with information is urged to contact police immediately on 131 444.
