The 29-year-old man pretended to be a teenage social media celebrity to get sexually explicit content from hundreds of victims
A Perth man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for coercing 286 victims, including 180 children, into performing sexually explicit acts on camera or video.
The man would contact young women and girls and befriend them online before manipulating them into providing explicit content. He would then blackmail them into providing increasingly sexual videos, threatening to send earlier content to their family and friends. He also conversed online with other child sex offenders, swapping strategies for the sexual extortion of young people, as well as sharing details of children who were susceptible to blackmail and abuse.
