The suburbs with highest median weekly rent price growth in January were:Orelia A glorified garden shed in a Perth backyard has been listed for rent for $320 a week, the latest sign that the city has the toughest rental market in the country.
Strategic Property Group managing director Trent Fleskens said while less than salubrious, it was a sign of the times and perhaps indicated a positive trend. “Whilst it might be shocking for some to think a granny flat is renting for over $300 a week, I would hope that this would actually incentivise more landowners to get on board and build their own granny flats to rent out as well.”“The more dwellings, big or small, we can encourage to be created in our state, the more choice people will have, and the less pressure on rents there will be,” he said.
