On Sunday, Alonso helped power the Mets to a 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners and in the process reached 41 homers and 100 RBIs.
After a historic afternoon for Pete Alonso at Citi Field, the Mets’ star first baseman walked across the street to the U.S. Open to celebrate.
Jeff McNeil posted a photo to his Instagram story showing himself along with Alonso, David Peterson, Drew Smith and Tylor Megill inside a suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium to take in the action. The trip was Alonso’s second time over at the Open.formerly Twitter, on Thursday of Alonso trying to hit a tennis ball out of the stadium using a tennis racquet.
Additionally, he became the fourth player in franchise history to reach the 100-RBI milestone three times. “It’s kind of wild to think about,’’ Alonso told reporters. “It’s happened so fast. It seems like yesterday I was in my rookie season. It means a lot. This place has been extremely special to me.”
