Opposition leader Peter Dutton has thanked the men and women in the Australian Defence Force for their tireless efforts assisting the natural disaster recovery process in people’s “hour of need”.
“I want to pay tribute to all of those who have spent time away from their families,” he said during Question Time.
“And if you join the Australian Defence Force, you are there to protect and defend our country, it is not their first call or first preference to be deployed on some of these operations and we are respectful of that, but they do lend a very significant hand, they provide a lot of support to those communities.”
