Peter Shilton has said Diego Maradona’s shirt from the 1986 ‘Hand of God’ World Cup quarter-final ‘wouldn’t have made it out’ of the England dressing room if he knew Steve Hodge had swapped it with the Argentina icon.3
The jersey was worn by Maradona when he scored two historic goals in the 2-1 win over England, including the infamous ‘Hand of God’ for which he punched the ball over Shilton and into the net.: “I wouldn’t have swapped with Maradona for all the tea in China for what happened on the day.“If myself and a few of the other players had known Hodgey had his shirt in the dressing room then it wouldn’t have made it out.
