SOFTBALL | UNFOspreys came through in the late innings to pick up another win in ASUN softball tournament play.
“Just seeing a pitch that I can do something with; that girl throws hard, and she throws out a lot, so I got something middle inside and I was just able to take it to the middle of the field,” Pfent said after the game about her mindset before the pitch. “Knowing I have both Kayla’s on base that are fast as heck, so getting in Kayla McGory in the end that’s just huge. Her baserunning was huge right there. That’s awesome.
Clausen only allowed three hits and one run through five innings, facing 17 batters but never losing control in the circle. Then, Pfent made her first splash of the day, blasting a two-run shot over the left field wall in the fourth inning. That was met with a game-tying run scored by the Bears in the fifth inning.
For UNF coach Marcie Higgs, the game was as expected. But the reward for winning is going to be a treat for the UNF players who can now relax until tomorrow’s game.
