The boss of Priceline Pharmacy operator API Richard Vincent says he has contacted the Health Department on behalf of pharmacy wholesalers to offer expertise on how to roll out access to a COVID-19 vaccine successfully.

API chief executive Richard Vincent says he has been in contact with the department of health to discuss how pharmacy wholesalers can help with a COVID-19 rollout."Once a vaccine has been approved for use, it will require a ‘whole of healthcare’ solution to distribute it nationally, via avenues like aged care homes, hospitals, medical centres and pharmacists," Mr Vincent said.

He offered the industry expertise about the rollout on behalf of the NPSA, whose members are responsible for storing and sending medicines across the country, including distribution of annual flu vaccines.proven capable through bushfires emergencies and the early COVID-19 demands and is again capable of being part of the solution," Mr Vincent said.

"We’re talking to a range of government bodies to make sure they actively consider the network that’s already available to distribute the vaccine," chief executive Mark Hooper said after unveiling Sigma's half-year financial results last week.
