Donation will be used to further expand services following Roe decision
Joan and Irwin Jacobs have given $10 million to Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, a contribution that the organization says will be used to expand its already broad network of health centers in San Diego, Imperial and Riverside counties.
Planned Parenthood will use the Jacobs’ gift to expand beyond its 19 existing centers of which the new 17,000-square foot Jacobs location in Kearny Mesa is the largest, hosting the Grant Rose Wilson Training Center, its first location dedicated to training reproductive health care providers. Charity Navigator, a nonprofit that rates charities on their stewardship of the funds they receive, recently added a category called “Roe v. Wade Reversal” as a “hot topic” on its website —— featuring sub-categories for a range of organizations from those that perform abortions to those that “provide peer counseling against pregnancy termination and post-birth support services.”
