Suns guard Cameron Payne celebrated the Diamondbacks’ walkoff win at home plate on Wednesday, giving some love to his favorite player, Jake McCarthy.

Outfielder Jake McCarthy was among those near home plate celebrating Sergio Alcantara’s walkoff home run on Wednesday night when he turned to see someone coming near him wearing a white Diamondbacks jersey with McCarthy’s name and No. 30 on it.“I had talked to him; I saw him near the on-deck circle before the game,” McCarthy said. “I did not know that he would be out celebrating, which was pretty funny.

The interaction capped what looked like a feel-good night for both the Diamondbacks and Payne, who apparently started following McCarthy closely late last season. McCarthy presented Payne with a Diamondbacks jersey, and both had t-shirts printed in NBA Jam style that featured their mug shots and ratings.
