One man is dead and a second person was detained Monday morning after a crash that began when the passenger of a vehicle shot the driver, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
Deputies responded around 9:30 a.m. to the 12000 block of the Sam Houston Tollway, in northeastern Harris County, after someone saw a pickup truck barreling down the tollway before striking a concrete barrier and coming to a stop, Gonzalez said. When first responders arrived, they found the front passenger had a pistol, but followed orders and came out of the truck, Gonzalez said. The driver was found dead with a gunshot wound.
