Planes navigate submerged runways after vicious storm causes major flooding

One of the largest cities in the United Arab Emirates has been inundated with floodwaters after heavy rain and violent thunderstorms lashed the region on Tuesday, wreaking havoc on a major airport.

Planes have been filmed navigating runways submerged in floodwater while flights have been delayed and cancelled after Dubai was hit by an intense thunderstorm on Tuesday.

Services are gradually resuming but the airport’s flight status website showed scores of cancelled and delayed flights on Wednesday morning.
