The proposals submitted to Glasgow City Council would see the retail unit at 1190 Argyle Street transformed into a new "quality restaurant". The plans were put forward by Okome, who are behind a number of popular Japanese restaurants in and around the city.
"Over the last ten years or so the area has seen a renaissance of its fortunes from being relatively rundown to a major wining and dining destination, with countless bars, diners, cafes and restaurants offering a very wide range of foods and drinks in a variety of interesting venues, and is popular with residents and visitors alike. It is now the premier “must go” area for wining and dining in the west end.
The proposal states that the spaces will be turned into a "quality restaurant" and describes the measures that will be taken if the plans are given the green light. It continues: "The proposed development will see this vacant property transformed into a quality restaurant.Access will continue to be via the existing doorway direct from Argyle Street. This will lead into the main restaurant which will occupy most of the floor.
