Dementia patients are smelling and touching plants to engage and stimulate their brains, in a new pilot program at Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden.

"It was beautiful to see the participants find those same sensory experiences and the same facts and stories so exciting," Tess said. The carers and family members ask Tess about different plants and their life spans as they walk through the garden. Tess explains the different plants the participants will be able to smell and feel during the nature-based therapy session.
