The leaders of the worlds most advanced economies issued a joint statement late yesterday, calling out China's economic coercion of other countries and stating they remained 'seriously concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas'.

Mr Albanese would not repeat the phrase when questioned on the matter, but said it was in lock step with Australia's position. "We very clearly support the status quo when it comes to the Taiwan Straits, and that is Australia's position — we've consistently stated it."
