Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has written to state and territory leaders requesting suggestions to determine the age at which children should be allowed to access social media platforms.

As part of the request, premiers and chief ministers have been asked to provide a potential age limit and evidence backing their suggestion, as well as consideration of how parental consent can be factored in.before the next election.

“Protecting children from harm is a shared responsibility across all governments, as well as industry, civil society and communities,” he said.
