A simple proposal to reference Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the constitution would almost certainly have succeeded had Albanese approached it with the spirit of humility he promised.He is responsible for chaining recognition to the Voice - an amorphous, half-formed idea, the purpose of which he has been unable to explain.
