Prime Minister Scott Morrison has criticised Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan’s reopening timeline after NSW revealed its roadmap out of restrictions.

In a clear departure from the “national plan”, the WA Premier has flagged that interstate borders will be closed until vaccination rates hit well beyond 80 per cent.

“I have a bigger confidence in Western Australians about their wanting to re-engage with the rest of the country and with the rest of the world. He said it would understandably be hard to progress into the next phases with cases expected to increase but urged state governments to hold their nerve. “It is important to keep the nerve. Have your plan ready, push through, get to the other side, be in the place we want to be.”

“I don’t want to us to end up like NSW; I don’t want us in that position. We’re going to fight like hell to stop that from occurring.
