Police are investigating attacks involving students at a growing number of schools in the south-east of Melbourne.
and armed robbery of a Glen Eira College student, which left him in hospital with serious injuries.
“We want to reassure our community, especially for the mums and dads and kids, that they are safe to walk to school,” Dwyer said. Police also responded to reports of a teenager with a knife on nearby Brindisi Street in Mentone around the same time. Officers spoke to two teenagers but no knife was located.
“I want the community to know that we are there with them. We are responsive to this and that we take action. You will have seen the increased visible patrols.” Andrews said he expected school communities would be doing what was required this week to keep students safe.
