Dozens of police are braving dangerous conditions in regional Victoria as authorities embark on a new search effort for the body of Samantha Murphy, the Ballarat mother-of-three who went missing in February.

Dozens of police are braving"super dangerous" conditions in the renewed search for the body of missing mother-of-three Samantha Murphy , who police allege was murdered by 22-year-old Patrick Stephenson in February.

Samantha Murphy, 51, went missing on February 4 after going for a run in the Canadian State Forest. Picture: 9news Inspector Dunstan said police faced dangerous conditions in the search, with the area of focus containing numerous mineshafts, some of which are five metres deep.“That's one of the reasons we've brought out Search and Rescue.”

This danger has only been made worse by the rain that has hit the Ballarat area over the past 24 hours. Multiple searches have already been conducted in the case without result. But in June, detectives found the mother-of-three’s mobile phone near a dam in Buninyong, 10 minutes from her home.
