Police confirm multiple arrests after Leeds bonfire night chaos as riot squad pelted with fireworks
West Yorkshire Police have released a statement after their riot squad was pelted with fireworks and missiles in a chaotic bonfire night in Hyde Park.
The force initially arrived to attend a fire in the Alexandra Road area but then havoc unfolded. The residential streets became a battleground as riot police stormed through dodging fireworks thrown by youths from 7.30pm. Officers crossed the streets, shields aloft and helmets secured as fireworks sailed through the air and exploded in their path. Terrified residents watched from behind their blinds as the calamity raged on and three arrests were made.
