A Chinese citizen who crashed his car into the Chinese consulate in San Francisco on Oct. 9 appeared to slash at a policeman with a knife as they scuffled before the officer shot him dead, newly released video of the confrontation showed.

The terrifying attack took place on October 10 at the consulate located in San Francisco’s scenic Japantown neighborhood. The assailant was identified as Zhanyuan Yang, a 31-year-old Chinese citizen.
SFPD Sergeant Troy Carrasco was the first officer to enter the consulate, and immediately attempted to help security guards detain Yang. ‘The sergeant approached Mr Yang and ordered him to get on the ground, but he did not comply,’ SFPD Commander Mark Im said. Yang’s Honda Civic crashed into a lobby where people were applying for visas to enter China The aftermath of the crash in the Chinese consulate ‘I will never surrender,’ Yang can be heard shouting as he struggles with the officer.
