A police crackdown continues today
Officers are focusing on Bury again today following a triple stabbing and an incident at a Metrolink station. Police have been monitoring events across the town in the wake of a horrific triple stabbing outside Bury Market on Monday .
Separately, Greater Manchester Police says a knife was 'lunged' at someone at the Whitefield Metrolink station, at around 11pm on Wednesday night. A number of Section 60 orders have been imposed in Bury town centre following Monday's attack, giving police extra powers to stop and search members of the public.Since the incident on Wednesday, police have also imposed a Section 60 order for Whitefield, and across the Metrolink line through Bury borough.
"Our team are often deployed in uniform and plain clothes targeting criminality and anti-social behaviour to ensure that you remain safe when using the Transport Network. During our partnership operation on Wednesday evening we utilised a knife arch with numerous individuals being detained for searches and three persons being arrested for various offences.
