Police forced to clear group of youths from reservoir where man tragically drowned
Police were forced to clear a group of youths from a reservoir where a young man tragically drowned just a few years ago.
Dwayne Thompson, who was only 20, died in hospital after getting into trouble in the water at the same reservoir in June of 2018 after attending with friends during a heatwave. His heartbroken mum Amanda previously told an inquest into his death that Dwayne, who had mild autism, lost his life because he 'didn't understand signs' warning people not to swim in the water. A coroner said his death was 'a tragic accident'.
A public post shared by the force said: "Yet again officers have had to got to Audenshaw reservoir earlier today to clear a group of youths from the site. We strongly urge parents to speak to their children about the dangers of swimming in reservoirs."
