Police shot and killed a person who had a gun Monday morning at a sports facility in Duncanville, near Dallas, where about 150 children were attending day camp, police said.
PUBLISHED 1:37 PM CDT Jun. 13, 2022DUNCANVILLE, Texas — Police shot and killed a gunman inside a sports complex after he fired at least two shots inside, including one into a classroom where about 150 children were attending a summer day camp.
Officers said the man entered the building and, after an exchange of words at the front area, fired a gunshot in the lobby. They said instructors in a nearby classroom locked the door and took active shooter precautions as the suspect tried to get inside. Officers said the man eventually fired a shot through the glass, from the outside, but didn’t hit anyone inside.
April McCloud’s daughter, Zoe McCloud, was attending the camp and rushed to the reunification center at a nearby city recreation facility after learning about the shooting on social media. “All the teachers were saying ‘go, go, go, go’ and once we got to the locker room almost all the, even the boys were crying, the girls were crying,” she said.
