A 33-year-old woman has died in the Katherine region overnight after an alleged family violence incident.
Northern Territory Police says it is now investigating the death of the woman, which happened in an undisclosed community near Katherine on Tuesday night.
Police and paramedics responded to the incident at about 11:00pm, where they found an unresponsive woman. Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said she had allegedly been involved in a fight with a female relative. "Paramedics commenced CPR but unfortunately the 33-year-old woman died at the scene just after midnight," he said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Lawson says the case is being treated as a family violence incident and police investigations are ongoing.
