Police say the alleged thief may have placed the 69-year-old, who died last night, in the vehicle.

Police are investigating whether a 69-year-old woman was killed by her own car after it was stolen from her North Queensland home.Police believe a 37-year-old man stole the woman's vehicle from Boulder St at about 5:30pmEmergency services were called to Zahmel St yesterday at about 6pm, where they found a 37-year-old man performing CPR on the Finch Hatton woman.

Acting Detective Inspector Scott Ingram said police believed the man stole a four-wheel drive from the woman's Boulder St home about half an hour prior.Police said the vehicle, the man and the woman were found about 10 kilometres away on Zahmel St. Police are continuing to investigate how the woman ended up in the vehicle and what led to her death.Inspector Ingram said police did not believe the pair were known to each other.

He alleged the man had been linked to property damage earlier at a friend's home, where he was staying, on the same street as the woman.Inspector Ingram said the wet weather had hindered the investigation, with flooding making it difficult to gain access to the locations. Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding the incidents with the car or the property damage to contact PoliceLink on 131 444.
