A driver has stunned police after he was busted allegedly speeding while more than two times over the legal limit and with an overloaded car west of Melbourne.

Police approached the car and it was"apparent" there were five passengers, which included four children, plus the driver in the vehicle. The 40-year-old man from Craigieburn was breath tested where he allegedly returned a reading of 0.107, more than two times over the legal blood alcohol limit.The man's car was impounded and he is set to be charged with traffic offences.Police impounded a Mercedes car after the driver was allegedly clocked travelling 126km/h in a 60km/h zone in Point Cook about 8:20pm.
