A West Australian police officer has died after he was run over and dragged under a car during an arrest. 7NEWS
“The thoughts and prayers of us all are with Anthony’s family and colleagues,” the force said in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that the WA Police Force confirms the passing of Constable Anthony Woods, who succumbed to injuries suffered in the line of duty, while attending an incident in Ascot earlier this week,” Police said. “WA Police extend heartfelt condolences to Anthony’s family, colleagues and all those who knew and loved him.”WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch is set to speak on the tragic development on Monday.
It came to a stop and as the officers tried to detain the three occupants, Cst Woods was hit by the vehicle and dragged underneath.Police said his fellow officers had to lift the car off him and attempted CPR at the scene before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
