JASON OM, REPORTER: The town of Cooma, 17th of May 2023, a fateful day for a New South police officer and a 95-year-old great grandmother.

The New South Wales Supreme Court heard she’d been wandering around the home with two kitchen knives - disturbing residents and staff.Along with two paramedics, they searched for Clare Nowland but they didn’t see her.It was here, after attempts to disarm Clare Nowland of a steak knife that Kristian White fired his taser at her.For nearly three weeks in Sydney, Kristian White, has been on trial for manslaughter.

The jurors took their seats with grave expressions and when called upon, the foreperson stood up saying, ‘Guilty’. In a statement to the media they said they’ll take some time to come to terms with the jury’s confirmation that Clare’s death was a criminal and unjustified act.Kristian White was granted bail and walked out of the court with his partner.Shortly after the verdict, the New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb said Kristian White’s employment is under review.
