It's understood the officers were taken to hospital after being exposed to a toxic substance used often in gold mining and other manufacturing industries.
Five police officers remain on leave following an incident in Kyneton where a 27-year-old man died whilst under arrest.
The man was unable to be revived, and it's believed he had taken a substance that can be rapidly fatal when consumed. The officers that responded to the call remain on leave and are understood to be shaken by the incident."This incident highlights the complexity of policing and the danger our members face on any given shift, as they work to keep the community safe," the spokesperson said.
