Police presence boosted ahead of potential Padres clincher [Breaking]

The San Diego Police Department says it has doubled the number of officers that normally patrol the Petco Park and Gaslamp District in the event that the crowds get rowdy after Saturday night’s Game 4 playoff game between the Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers.

“If the Padres win, we are expecting a bit of a conglomeration of people” to spill into the streets to celebrate, SDPD Officer Ricky Radasa said a couple hours before game was scheduled to start. “We’ll be doubling our footprint.” Radasa said about 70 officers will be dedicated to monitoring fan behavior in and around the stadium and nearby bars and restaurants. The number includes plainclothes officers, bicycle units and traffic control personnel.Radasa said officers defused “a couple incidents” involving fans Friday night after the Padres won Game Three of the National League Division Series, bringing the home team to within one game of advancing to the next round of baseball’s postseason.
