Shocking CCTV showing the moment a man fired several shots into a Melbourne home where a family of five were sleeping has been released by police. Six shots were fired into the front of the home on St Michaels Dr, Tarneit just before 3am on September 3. Two adults and three children who were asleep inside the property at the time were not injured. Police, who had yet to make any arrests over the incident, on Wednesday released CCTV of the moment the shots were fired.

Detective Senior Constable Jeremy Stevens said police believe the attack was targeted but that the family have no idea why they were attacked. “It’s not a routine incident or something that happens very often whereby the shots were fired directly into the front of the address,” he said. Stevens called the attack “brazen” and said it was lucky no one was hurt. “ very lucky, the room that was targeted is actually a garage that has been converted into a kids’ room,” he said.
