The NT Police Force has revealed officers did not conduct a welfare check on a woman who was later killed in an alleged domestic violence murder in Darwin, despite a Territory Families employee raising the alarm nine hours before her death.
Police have revealed they received a report concerning a woman's welfare nine hours before she was allegedly killed by her partner in Darwin, but did not attend until a later report was made.
At the time, police said their response time to the incident had been quick, telling reporters the first callThe call was made by a family member reporting the woman had died, according to police. Assistant Commissioner White, who is the head of the NT Police Force's domestic violence and youth command, said there were a "number of reasons" police did not respond earlier, but said it mainly came down to the availability of resources.
Assistant Commissioner White said domestic violence accounted for the majority of calls made to police.
