Police say 3 teens arrested in Manhattan anti-LGBTQ hate crime attack
According to the NYPD, three boys aged 13, 14 and 16 were taken into custody in the Lower East Side around 9 a.m. for their role in the Sept. 15 attack on a 72-year-old man.
Police said the victim was walking through Chelsea around 10 p.m. when four suspects approached, used an anti-LGBTQ slur and proceeded to punch, kick and strike him in his head and body with unknown objects. The man sustained a broken jaw and cuts to his face and hands, and was taken to an area hospital by private means.
All three teens were charged with gang assault, hate crime assault and criminal weapons possession.
