Police are searching for a prisoner accidentally released from a Sydney prison as correctional services authorities try to work out what went wrong.

Corey Hastings, 30, left the Long Bay Correctional Complex in Matraville about 1pm today in what Corrective Services NSW blamed on an "administration error".was launched to find the man, who was thought to have last been seen at a shopping centre in Eastgardens just before 3pm.Corey Hastings, 30, left the Long Bay Correctional Complex in Matraville about 1pm today in what Corrective Services NSW blamed on an "administration error".

Hastings was described as Caucasian in appearance and 192 centimetres tall with a heavy build and red or auburn hair.
