Glenwood police said its officers and police from other departments were fired on Thursday night when they responded to a report of gunfire on property in unincorporated Cook County.
Police said the first officers responding at 6:30 p.m. to Glenwood Lansing Road and Cottage Grove Avenue were shot at, though nobody was injured.Police said the South Suburban Emergency Response Team was activated to contain the suspect, who eventually surrendered. Police said a firearm and ammunition were recovered.
Officials said an investigation is continuing and they do not at this point have a motive for the shooting.The property was described by police as a ranch home, with several unsecured buildings, mounds of dirt and various parked vehicles and farm equipment.
